Dear parents and carers,

I hope everyone is well and dodging all the illness that’s hitting Headingley! Our hospital role-play are has been  well used, and we have used the opportunity to teach the children about hygeine and staying healthy. Remember that children who have been sick need to stay away from preschool for 48hours.

Planning

We have been really enjoying thinking about space, rockets light and dark. The children also enjoyed celebrating and learning about Divali. Krishan and Priya’s Mum brought in some delicious food and shared some Divali crafts with the children. Thank you Daljit.

We will be thinking about and celebrating Hanukah in the next couple of weeks and we are looking forward to Alessio’s mum coming in to talk to the children about the festival.

We will also be celebrating Christmas towards the end of term, if you have any craft ideas or good recipes please share them with us.

The end of term Party 18th December from 10 – 12.00 noon

To celebrate the end of term we will be having a party! All children are invited but unfortunately we can not accommodate parents to stay as well due to space. All we ask is that you come along in your favourite outfit, whether that’s your best P.Js or a tutu  and bring your smile. There is no need to bring lunch as children should be collected at 12.There could be a visit from a very important person….ho ho ho!

Snow days and text service!

We have a  text service to parents so we can keep in contact with you more easily. You should have had one about a reported case of Hand Foot and Mouth on Tuesday 17th November. If you don’t  currently receive text alerts from preschool, please let us know.

Perhaps a little premature, but should we need to close due to bad weather we will contact you via text before 8.30 am on the day.

Clothing , wellies and Lunches

We will continue to free flow indoors and out through the winter months so it’s really important you send your children in lots of named layers. We are also more than happy to keep a pair of named wellies onsite to keep shoes clean. Just a quick reminder that we don’t allow plastic bags in Preschool.

Our spare clothes reserves are very low, so if you have anything to return, we would be very grateful.  Thanks!

Fees and Funding

Invoices are currently being sent out to those who pay fees. If your child has a funded place at preschool please ensure you have signed a LEA funding form.  If you think you haven’t signed a form speak to Michele or Shehnaz who can provide one for you.

If you would like to pay via Direct Debit, our bank details are: Headingley Preschool, Sort code 60-83-01. Account number 20334743. Please use your child’s name as a reference.

Child Friendly Headingley

You might be interested in a drop-in event at Headingley Library from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday 28th November. Put your thinking caps on  and share your ideas on how to make Headingley more child-friendly. If you cant make the drop-in session, feel free to email preschool and Chris will be happy to pass on suggestions.

Reminders

  • Don’t forget that pre school sessions finish at 12.00 and 3pm , please try your best to be prompt. And let us know if you think you may be late.
  • We will be closed on the morning of Wednesday 9thDecember for staff training. We will beopen for the afternoon session at 12 noon. If children have their lunch before they arrive, we will have the whole session for playing.

Abandoned pushchair

A very nice Gracco pushchair has been left outside preschool for quite a few  weeks. Does anyone  know who it belongs to? If it is not claimed before Christmas we will donate it to charity before it succombs to the winter weather any more.

Many thanks
